Executive Director of Northeast Announces Retirement
It is with mixed emotions that, on behalf of U.M. ARMY – Northeast, we are announcing the retirement of our current Executive Director, Lorraine Macpherson. As of September 30 of this year, Lorraine will be moving on to the next step in her life’s journey. We have mixed emotions because we are sad to say goodbye to someone who has been so instrumental in shaping U.M. ARMY – Northeast; however, we are excited for Lorraine and for new opportunities for the organization.
U.M. ARMY Northeast is part of a national organization that began in Texas in 1979. The first camp was held in the Northeast in Trumbull, CT in 2003. In 2004 U.M. ARMY- Northeast was officially created, and since then the chapter has grown from 70 to 550 people in seven camps in five states across the region. Lorraine attended the first official Northeast camp in 2004, and has played an integral role in the growth of the chapter since its creation. She became Executive Director in 2006 and through the years has led the people and the growth of the Northeast chapter with faith, hard work and an unfailing commitment to God’s calling.
Lorraine’s plans for retirement include spending winters in Florida with her husband, Phil, and spending more time with her two grown sons, James and Andrew. U.M. ARMY is in her blood and will definitely be part of her future. As she stated in her own words: “U.M. ARMY is one of the major passions in my life and I know I will be involved in this organization at some level always.”
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ Matthew 25:21 (NIV)
The Board of Directors is pursuing the search for a new Executive Director. We move forward in faith knowing God has a plan for our organization under new leadership. For information about the open position click here.
